We knew there were more Tabacoff Sphere’s coming, but not in which condition they would be. So we made sure how to re-create the cushions.

Birds Nest by Verner Panton looks a simple upholstery job. But a lot of material comes together in the center. Not easy to make that look elegant.

70 Years of intensive use reduces elasticity of the foam body. This MP81 seat looks over the top with this thick non-woven layer but once the leather upholstery is tightened, she is young again.
19-Ekstrems
Terje Ekström’s Extrem seats are little marvels. Would you believe they are comfortable? These halves are upholstered with bouclé stocking developed by Phranid.
20-Cinna-Sandra
Glue deteriorates faster than foam. This Cinna Sandra looks like a disaster but it is actually pretty easy to remove the old glue en put this super comfortable sofa back together again.
21-Prism
We run into crazy things, this Prism chair by Andersen & Magnussen had been wet. The black discolouration and flaking was due to a chemical reaction with lead strips used in the chair.
22-Daybed
True vintage dealers also buy objects without any attribution to big designers. True collectors buy these because these are rare and usually of great quality and finish. We loved this beautiful daybed.
23-waiting-room
Giancarlo Piretti’s classic Alky is popular. In this picture four older ones which needed structural repairs. But the two on the far right were brand new, we upholstered them because the trader felt our upholstery fits better than factory new.

Kannika & Dick Holzhaus: We met in Chiang Mai Thailand in 2000. Moved to the Netherlands in 2010. Phranid started out Q4 of 2019 when Kannika Holzhaus decided to start her own business with over 13 years of experience in modelmaking and sewing for high-end design furniture manufacturers. Dick Holzhaus joined in 2020 bringing in 40 years of design experience and was trained by experienced masters in upholstery. Since then we have completed over 400 substantial restoration and reconditioning jobs. With Phranid it all revolves around quality and originality, and balancing the two when we can improve with modern techniques which do not compromise the look. Our clients are mainly dealers/traders in high end vintage furniture, in itself a kind of recognition for our work. We have a quality driven aim to expand the business and services and believe a company like Phranid should never grow big in size, we want to grow in quality and be worthy of accepting the most challenging jobs.
